BNHS CEC Announces Pre-Monsoon And Monsoon Forest Trails

Opportunity for Mumbaikars to experience the wilderness in Goregaon

The sweltering heat of the summer is about to vanish as the arrival of the monsoon with all its magic is around the corner. BNHS Conservation Education Centre (CEC) is organising forest trails to welcome the rains. This is your opportunity to smell the fresh moist earth and sooth your senses with the sights and sounds of the reviving forest. During this time the jungle would be alive with the calls of the migratory Pied Crested Cuckoo and Indian Pitta. Even the local birds like Hawk Cuckoo and Peacock are active at this time of the year.

With a few showers, myriad lilies adorn the forest floor, while small song birds create a tranquil atmosphere when the rain takes a break. Frogs become active in the small puddles and snails appear miraculously. BNHS CEC in Goregaon is all set to take the participants on an exciting trip into the wilderness.

The undulating forest trail under the shade of beautiful trees like Red Silk Cotton, Pongam Tree, Kusumb, Ghost Tree, Crocodile Bark Tree and Teak is an experience worth taking. Birds which are likely to be seen or heard include White-rumped Shama, Indian Grey Hornbill, Puff-throated Babbler, Magpie Robin, Golden Oriole and Brown-headed Barbet. Why spend a weekend driving far off on a Sunday morning when nature in all its bounty is waiting for you right here? So if you are tired of pollution, stress and work and looking for a great getaway with your family and friends, come and unwind in the company of Mother Nature.
