The Sanctuary Panna Wilderness Forever Photography Contest 2017 – Call For Entries
The Panna landscape broadly overlaps with the Panna Biosphere Reserve. It includes, three Protected Areas; Panna national park, Gangau wildlife sanctuary and Ken-Gharial sanctuaries. It is one of the most unique natural landscapes of our country. With its unique geological setting, the Ken river flowing through its gorges, the sheer rock cliffs with vital habitats of the critically endangered vultures, Peregrine Falcons and other bird species, its waterfalls that disappear into the uniquely-formed sehas, and the setting for the most successful and unique in the entire world tiger reintroduction programme. If this isn’t enough it also has harboured since time immemorial an old human civilisation still marked by the rock paintings and continues to support the life and livelihood of human populations not only within its immediate vicinity but also way beyond with the water resources it generates.

About the event:
The unique Panna landscape has successfully survived the pressures of neglect, poaching, mining and other similar threats. It is high time that we take action and conserve this unique landscape before we lose it forever. What better way to do this than the wonderful photography you all do!
Conservation photography is a blend of the art of wildlife and nature photography, of documentary photography and the knowledge of natural history in the broadest sense. It is a way to involve the large and growing community of nature enthusiasts in building up scientific databases, creation of awareness and in conservation action. It is also a way giving back to nature, in this case especially to the Panna landscape.
The Sanctuary Panna Wilderness Forever Photography Contest 2017 is being organised by Sanctuary Asia with the objective of celebrating this unique natural heritage, promoting awareness of ‘The Panna Landscape’ and to give a fillip to its conservation.
