GreenKarbon Nature Walk at Aravalli Biodiversity Park in Delhi on February 26, 2011
A nature walk was held for Deutsche Bank employees under the GreenKarbon programme on February 26, 2011 at the Aravalli Biodiversity Park in Delhi.
GreenKarbon is a joint initiative by Sanctuary Asia and Deutsche Bank to spread awareness on the important role of forests in tackling climate change and the need for biodiversity conservation.
The walk was led by Dr. M. Shah Hussain, a scientist at Aravalli Biodiversity Park. The walk began with a brief introduction to GreenKarbon and an explanation on the important link between forest protection and India’s food and water security. The participants comprised a small group of five people who were keen to learn about the park and its importance as a green area to Delhi. The group spotted a squirrel’s nest, pugmarks of wolves and jackals and saw several kinds of butterflies and birds.
The walk ended with a short film and summary on the evolution of the park. The group were delighted with their experience and left with promises to return.
