Meeting To Discuss Attacks On Environmentalists, – July 27, 2010

A meeting will be held by the Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS) at Hornbill House on July 27, 2010 at 5 p.m. The purpose of the meeting is to condemn the recent killing of activist Amit Jethva in Gujarat and to discuss security issues surrounding conservationists.

There are 13 countries worldwide which still have tigers in the wild, although the numbers are very low. Without immediate strong action, the next few years will be catastrophic for wild tigers.


In India, for example, the number of tigers in the past six years has decreased by more than twice and the total number of all remaining wild tigers on the planet is as low as 3,200.
