Three Macaw Facts

Macaws are brightly coloured and are found in the rainforests of Central and South America.

They belong to the parrot family and live in flocks of  10 to 30 individuals

There are 17 species of macaws and they have beautiful, graceful, tails that are as long or longer than their bodies. The hyacinth macaw is the largest of all parrots!

Macaws use loud calls, squawks and screams to communicate. They have a bone in their scaly tongue that helps them tap into fruit! They have powerful beaks and toes that can firmly grip onto trees.
