Sanctuary Asia's Wild Maharashtra
SPECIAL MENTION - RAMAN KULKARNI
The lessons we learn from our wildernesses are unlimited. The gaur, or Indian bison, for instance, seems invincible on account of its sheer bulk, yet it is essentially a docile animal that will avoid confrontation unless it perceives imminent danger. What is more the presence of the gaur in the Indian forest indicates that the ecosystem is relatively intact because this, the largest wild ox in the world, tends to avoid disturbed habitats.
