Sanctuary Asia's Wild Maharashtra
SPECIAL MENTION, VINAY S. KUMAR
The intense heat of the Vidarbha summer months often forces the wildlife inhabitants of Tadoba, like this sambar to converge on the few remaining water sources to quench their thirst. Predators such as these dholes, or wild dogs, know this and have learned to seek out the young and weak to prey upon. Here a mother tries in vain to protect her young fawn from the combined attack of a dhole pack.
