Conflict

Special Mention: Somenath Mukhopadhyay– Conflict: For generations, Indians living next to wild animals were able to negotiate a tentative peace because our numbers were low and vast forests offered large animals, such as these elephants in Tabadumro village, Jharkhand, a retreat if they wished to avoid us. Deforestation has, thus, proven to be a double-edged sword – aggravating climate change and causing severe man-animal conflict.
