Climate Change Photography Contest 2007
Special Mention: Avinash K.J. – Deadly Beauty: The Sheshnag glacier was once cloaked in perpetual snow. No longer! Himalayan glaciers are melting at a pace of 30 m. per annum and more. This threatens the breadbasket of India – Punjab, Haryana and western Uttar Pradesh – which cannot be relied on to feed India much longer. India’s climate change negotiators must understand that even if this global threat was not ‘our fault’, it is, nevertheless, ‘our disaster’.
