Against All Odds
Special Mention: Sachin N. Sheregar, June 2006, Mumbai – Against All Odds: A physically-challenged person braves his way through a tidal upsurge in Mumbai. Even as dreams of turning Mumbai into Shangai or New York continue to delude the elite, city planners and politicians, erratic monsoons, clogged drainage systems, bottle-necked rivers and a complete disregard for natural landscaping cripples the financial capital. The infamous July 26, 2005 Mithi river disaster cost us just under 1,000 lives and (officially) Rs. 2,000 crores! The real loss was greater and the tragedy is waiting to repeat itself.
