The author’s research suggests that to create a viable tiger population of, say, around 70 to 80 tigresses capable of breeding, the authorities would need to designate a much larger area, stocked with enough prey. When poachers kill deer or wild pig, they deprive tigers of food, forcing the carnivores to approach villages.
