Sundarbans Inheritance

Honey Hunters by Dr. Helmut Denzau

The honey gatherers of the Sundarbans with the tools of their trade. Experienced teams spend a surprisingly short time in the forest as they know the location of hives and often locate new hives by observing the flight of bees. The average yield of a comb  is between three and six kilogrammes of honey plus 200 to 500 gm. of wax. The life of a honey gatherer is difficult. Apart from bee attacks, he must risk encounters with tigers, crocodiles, sharks, snakes and dacoits. It is probably one of the riskiest professions on the planet.
