The North Indian flood plains, called the terai, are vital to the survival of Asiatic elephants Eeiphas maximus that move along the Chilla-Motichur corridor. Expanding and securing this corridor is important in maintaining the gene flows between the elephants of the Corbett and Rajaji National Parks.
