Greater Flamingo by Sandeep Desai
The Rann of Kutchh supports a myriad species that have learned to take sustenance from the seemingly inhospitable, saline mudflats. These Greater Flamingoes Phoenicopterus roseus breed in the Rann during the monsoon, and when their chicks are strong enough they will make long journeys to other brackish water habitats across the Indian subcontinent including Mumbai’s Sewri mudlflats.
