Tiger and Rhinoceros by Sandesh Kadur
Few people other than those who patrol the forest for a living have ever seen an image like this. A little known fact about tigers Panthera tigris is that they obtain a significant percentage of their sustenance from scavenging. The animal seen feeding here on a dead one-horned Indian rhinoceros Rhinoceros unicornis in Kaziranga is undoubtedly rare, but the Kaziranga Tiger Reserve authorities say that the camera traps set up by them have actually revealed as many as three adult tigers scavenging on a single dead rhino carcass simultaneously!
