Brown Fish Owl and River Lapwing by Debabrata Sark

The Brown Fish-owl Bubo zeylonensis is a large resident raptor found in parts of South Asia. In north India, its habitat coincides with that of the River Lapwing Vanellus duvaucelii. For the most part nocturnal, this Brown Fish-owl, which is at least three times larger than the lapwing, actually met with aggression from the smaller bird, which drove the owl away from its rocky resting area.
