Whiskered Tern by Praveen P. Mohandas

Whiskered Terns Chlidonias hybridus have a number of geographical races, differing mainly in size, with minor plumage variations. Terns breed in large colonies on inland marshes, often together with Black-headed Gulls that offer the smaller birds some protection from predators. Converging grass-lined river banks, a slow shutter speed and a wide-angle lens made this ethereal image possible.
