Black-shouldered Kite by S. P. Nagendra

The Black-shouldered Kite Elanus caeruleus, seen here with a rodent in its talons, uses its sharp eyesight and its ability to hover in mid-air to snap up unsuspecting prey that may include rodents, lizards and insects. It prefers open grasslands and scrub, or agricultural land, where it, unfortunately, picks up pesticides along with its prey.
