Brown-headed Gulls by Raghav Paul
Migratory Brown-headed Gulls Larus brunnicephalus breed in the highlands of Ladakh in summer and visit the coasts and inland waterbodies of peninsular India in winter. This attractive image was shot on the banks of the Yamuna river in Delhi and beautifully captures the extravagance of nature, which seems to provide an endless larder for its wards. Only after the image was selected did the selection panel discover that it had been shot by an eight-year-old boy.
