The fat-tailed gecko (Eublepharis macularius), generally prefers rocky habitat. The gecko’s diet may include insects, from whose protein-rich bodies the reptile absorbs water. Its tail serves to store fat for use during lean periods. Lizards themselves are often preyed upon by snakes and birds.
