Purple Darter Dragonfly By Narinder S. Narang

A purple darter dragonfly rests on a slender flower bud. Darters, fairly abundant in localised habitats, are among the most interesting dragonflies to study and watch. Dragonflies at rest always hold their wings outspread almost at right angles to their bodies, while damselflies hold their identical fore and hind wings so as to overlap neatly together.
