The Indian Grey Hornbill Ocyceros birostris is the most commonly sighted hornbill in India. It has sandy grey feathers and a distinctively long tail. The female’s curved bill sports a casque, that is longer and more pointed among the males of the species. Mainly frugivorous, they are known to feed on molluscs, scorpions, insects, small birds and reptiles as well.
