Environmental Journalism

International Institute for Journalism, Berlin (IIJ) provides advanced technical training for newspaper and agency journalists from the developing countries of Asia, Africa and Latin America. The programs are designed to enhance journalistic skills, provide information on trends and developments in newspaper production and enable exchanges of experiences between journalists from developing and industrialized countries.

Duration: The IIJ offers three to four month programs in Berlin that teach journalistic skills, including interview techniques, investigative reporting, journalistic forms of presentation, makeup and layout, press laws and ethics.

Shorter special courses of five to 11 weeks deal with science writing, economic and financial journalism, environmental journalism, electronic editing, management, and training techniques.

Eligibility: Participants in the programs should be proficient in French and English, the chosen languages for the courses. Usually, four years of professional experience is required, as well as a maximum age of 32.
