Volunteers

Each one of us wants to ‘do something’ to protect the environment, but are often unable to link up with those who “know the ropes”. By uniting our strengths, we can collectively make a difference. If you wish to help make this a better world, all you need to do is to fill in this on-line form, or print it out and post it to us. We will then get back to you with options from time to time so you can decide when and what kind of volunteer work you wish to do. Be sure that your contact details are right!

The Conservation Action Trust, in collaboration with the Sanjay Gandhi National Park Division of the Maharashtra Forest Department, Soonabai Pirojsha Godrej Marine Ecology Centre, Wetlands International and Sanctuary Magazine, is starting a project to monitor the movement of flamingos in and around Thane Creek.

The project seeks to determine the movement of flamingos within and around Thane creek during different stages of
the tide.

Duration: This project will be carried out over weekends from April to July 2006.

Teams comprising of volunteers, headed by knowledgeable birdwatchers, will be deployed at selected locations along both sides of Thane Creek. We are also trying to get at least one boat so that one team can be deployed midstream. Please note that volunteers will be required to commit to spending a full day at the location they select!
