Nature Trail Conducted at Sanjay Gandhi National Park On February 6, 2011
A nature trail was conducted by Dr. Parvish Pandya, zoology professor, Bhavan’s college on February 6, 2011 at the Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP) for students from the Wilson college nature club.
The group walked along the Silonda trail identifying different plants and animals with Dr. Pandya’s help. He explained the importance of SGNP and the vital role it plays as a carbon sink for the city and showed them a multitude of birds including a Golden Oriole, Spotted Dove and a male Asian Paradise Flycatcher. The group was extremely lucky to find a nest of the elusive Purple Sunbird and a chital resting under a tree. The kids had a great time and asked to be brought back as soon as possible!
