GreenKarbon Nature Walk at Sanjay Gandhi National Park in Mumbai on February 26, 2011
A nature walk was held for Deutsche Bank employees under the GreenKarbon programme on February 26, 2011 at the Sanjay Gandhi National Park.
GreenKarbon is a joint initiative by Sanctuary Asia and Deutsche Bank to spread awareness on the important role of forests in tackling climate change and the need for biodiversity conservation.
The walk was led by naturalists Shardul Bajikar, Ovee Thorat, Saurabh Sawant and Parthiv Sangvi. Forty five employees from Deutsche Bank were present on the day which began with a discussion on the role of forests in sequestering carbon. The group spotted several species of birds including the Purple-Rumped Sunbird, Black Drongo, Rose-ringed Parakeet and Grey Hornbill. The participants were keen to learn more about the park which is vital to Mumbai’s water security and asked several questions which were clarified by the naturalists.
