Sanctuary Asia's Wild Maharashtra
SPECIAL MENTION, DHRITIMAN MUKHERJEE
One of the wettest regions in the country, Amboli ghat is a natural hotspot for the playful, moisture-loving herpetofauna. In such nurturing surrounds, endemic life such as the pea-green Malabar gliding frog Rhacophorus malabaricus, one of the most attractive frogs in the world, thrives. It is found only in this region, and is able to locomote by gliding over 100 times its length, from bough to bough, by stretching the webbing between its digits while leaping.
