Juvenile Tawny Eagle by Santhosh Gujar
This Tawny Eagle Aquila rapax was photographed in Hessarghatta, Bangalore. It is a large bird of prey that breeds in most of Africa, both north and south of the Sahara Desert, and across tropical southwestern Asia to India. Throughout its range, it favours open dry habitats where it feeds largely on carrion. Occasionally, it will kill small mammals or steal food from other raptors.
