Thousands of locals risk crocodile, shark and tiger encounters as they strip the waterways of young crustaceans and fish fry to obtain tiger prawn seedlings for large prawn farms. Believing that tigers never attack from the rear, face masks designed to be worn backwards were distributed, but the practice never quite caught on as locals did not think that a tiger could be fooled in this manner for long.
