Chukar by Devendra Gogate
The Chukar Alectoris chukar is a resident breeder in dry, open, and often hilly country in the western and central Himalaya. Chukars lay eight to 20 eggs in a scantily-lined ground scrape. Chicks follow their mother on foraging sorties, feeding on a wide variety of seeds and invertebrates. However, they will rush for cover forming a close-knit huddle at the slightest hint of danger, as depicted in this image.
