The Common Crane is found in the ancient cave paintings of Spain, the writings of Milton and Aesop, and in European heraldry, but breeds all across Asia as well. Migration takes huge flocks to Spain, north Africa, Iran, India and China, for the winter. Seen here is a crane, hanging in a Kabul bazaar where the birds are commonly sold for their meat.
